Box of Herbalifeline Max omega-3 vegetarian gel capsules

Herbalifeline® Max is Herbalife’s daily omega-3 food supplement, providing 375mg EPA and 250mg DHA per capsule from sustainably sourced fish oil.

How many capsules a day actually matters here — the UK label sets a different EPA/DHA threshold for each authorised benefit, from heart function up to blood pressure. This guide breaks those thresholds down exactly, capsule by capsule.

Quick Summary

  • What it is: Vegetarian gel capsules filled with sustainably sourced fish oil, each providing 375mg EPA and 250mg DHA.
  • The capsule shell is vegetarian — the contents are not: the fill is fish oil, so the finished product is not suitable for vegetarians, vegans, or anyone with a fish allergy.
  • Dose depends on the benefit sought: 1 capsule/day covers the heart-function and brain/vision thresholds; 4 capsules/day covers the triglyceride threshold; 5 capsules/day covers the blood pressure threshold. All stay well under the 5g/day EPA+DHA safety ceiling.
  • Sustainability: Friend of the Sea® accredited fish oil, backed by an official Certification of Sustainable Seafood.
  • Pack size: 42g, 30 capsules.

What Is Herbalifeline® Max?

Herbalifeline® Max is a daily food supplement supplying EPA and DHA, two long-chain omega-3 fatty acids, from fish oil. Each vegetarian gel capsule provides 375mg EPA and 250mg DHA, and the fill is flavoured with thyme and peppermint essential oils to soften the typical fish-oil aftertaste.

EPA and DHA contribute to the normal function of the heart, the maintenance of normal blood pressure, and the maintenance of normal blood triglyceride levels. DHA specifically also contributes to the maintenance of normal brain function and normal vision. These are all authorised EU health claims under Regulation (EU) No 432/2012 — not marketing language, but the specific wording permitted by regulators, each tied to a minimum daily intake.

How Many Capsules for Which Benefit?

The authorised claims for EPA and DHA each require a different minimum daily amount. Because Herbalifeline® Max delivers a fixed 375mg EPA + 250mg DHA per capsule, the number of capsules taken determines which thresholds are met on a given day.

Daily capsulesEPA + DHA providedThreshold met
1 capsule625mg combined (250mg is DHA)Normal heart function (250mg EPA+DHA); normal brain function and vision (250mg DHA)
4 capsules2,500mg combinedMaintenance of normal blood triglyceride levels (2g EPA+DHA)
5 capsules3,125mg combinedMaintenance of normal blood pressure (3g EPA+DHA)

Safety ceiling: a combined daily intake of 5g EPA and DHA must not be exceeded. Taking the maximum recommended 5 capsules a day (3.125g combined) stays well within this limit, but capsules should not be taken beyond the label’s stated daily amount.

Sourcing & Sustainability

The fish oil in Herbalifeline® Max is accredited by Friend of the Sea®, backed by an official Certification of Sustainable Seafood from Fisheries and Aquaculture. This accreditation relates to sourcing practices and marine habitat impact — it is a sustainability certification, not a health or purity claim.

Is It Suitable for Vegetarians or Vegans?

No. The capsule shell itself — made from hydroxypropyl starch, glycerol, carrageenan and disodium phosphate — is vegetarian. But the fill inside every capsule is fish oil. Because the finished product contains fish, Herbalifeline® Max is not suitable for vegetarians, vegans, or anyone with a fish allergy or intolerance, regardless of the capsule shell’s composition.

Allergen information: Contains fish.

Ingredients & Allergens

Fish oil, capsule shell (stabiliser: hydroxypropyl starch; firming agent: glycerol; gelling agent: carrageenan; acidity regulator: disodium phosphate), antioxidant (alpha-tocopherol), natural flavourings (thyme oil 0.14%, peppermint oil 0.07%).

How to Take It

Take 1, 4 or 5 capsules per day — depending on which benefit is being targeted, as set out in the table above — with water, preferably with meals, spaced over the day. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Herbalifeline® Max is a food supplement intended to be enjoyed as part of a balanced and varied diet and a healthy, active lifestyle, not as a substitute for one. Store in a cool, dry place, out of reach of young children.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many Herbalifeline® Max capsules should I take a day?

It depends on the effect being sought. One capsule a day already meets the thresholds for normal heart function and for DHA’s role in normal brain function and vision. Reaching the triglyceride threshold needs 4 capsules a day, and the blood pressure threshold needs 5. The maximum recommended daily amount is 5 capsules.

Is Herbalifeline® Max vegetarian or vegan?

No. The capsule shell is vegetarian, but the fill inside is fish oil, so the finished product is not suitable for vegetarians, vegans, or anyone avoiding fish.

Can I take more than 5 capsules a day for a stronger effect?

No. The label sets 5 capsules as the recommended daily amount, and a combined daily intake of 5g EPA and DHA should not be exceeded. Five capsules provide 3.125g combined, which stays within that limit — taking more is not recommended.

What does the Friend of the Sea® accreditation mean?

It confirms the fish oil is backed by an official Certification of Sustainable Seafood from Fisheries and Aquaculture, relating to how the fish is sourced and its impact on marine habitats. It is a sustainability accreditation, not a claim about the product’s health effects.

Why does it taste less “fishy” than other fish oil supplements?

Each capsule is flavoured with a small amount of thyme oil (0.14%) and peppermint oil (0.07%), included specifically to soften the aftertaste typical of fish oil supplements.

Is Herbalifeline® Max suitable if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?

Speak to a GP or midwife before adding any fish oil supplement during pregnancy or breastfeeding, since omega-3 needs and safe intake levels can differ at this time.
